Welcome to the Main Office!

The main office is open from 8:30 am until 4:15 pm.  If you are planning to visit the school, appointments are preferred, as staff may not be available, especially during student arrival and dismissal.  Please make sure you bring your identification with you to school. For safety and security reasons, everyone on campus at DHMS must have proper identification visible at all times. Please be prepared to show a valid picture identification card. Computerized IDs will be made for all visitors. This badge must be worn while on the school campus.  All information is secure and NOT shared with any other parties. Thank you for helping to keep our school and campus safe.

CHECK OUT PROCEDURES

Parents requesting early check-out of their student can write a note and the student can go to their grade level office, that morning to get a Permit to Leave slip. This alleviates any wait time for you when you come to pick up your student. If you call or come in, please understand that we do need time to get your student for you. Please allow at least 30 minutes. This will give the school the opportunity to look up the student’s schedule and send for them to meet you in the front office. Parents, it is important that we check the driver’s license of anyone picking up your student early from school. This will be done to ensure the safety of your child. After 3:45 pm there will be no permission to leave slips written, due to the time constraints on using the proper method of getting your child from class.

STUDENT DELIVERY OF FLOWERS, BALLOONS, ETC.

With safety in mind, the school cannot accept any type of flower arrangement, stuffed animals, balloon bouquet, or balloon arrangements for delivery to students. Many times these are in containers that are breakable.  In addition, they cause a disruption and in some cases, an obstruction in the classroom.  Please do not send any deliveries to students who are in school.  They will be refused and returned to the sender. Your understanding and cooperation is greatly appreciated.

Positive Behavior Interventions and Support

• Students earn PBIS Rewards when they follow our schoolwide expectations and demonsrate Respect, Excellence, and Pride.
• PBIS Rewards are given out by various staff members. (teachers, bus drivers, cafeteria staff, plant operators, front office staff)
• PBIS rewards can be used to buy items at the school store, popcorn on Thursdays, treats, and tickets to special events such as the Talent Show, Recess,  faculty-student sports games, school dances and more!
• Your student can track their rewards in the PBIS Rewards App in clever!

2025-2026 Title 1 Schoolwide Plan – Fill out form

Title I is a federally-funded program available to select schools, based on the percentage of students eligible for free and reduced lunch. Title I funds are supplemental to district funds given to schools and are to be used to increase student achievement.

In Pinellas County, Title I serves all students and families in eligible public schools through school-wide programs that provide additional instructional staff and other resources. Title I also allocates funds to provide equitable services for eligible students and their families in identified non-public schools in the district. • Develop jointly with parents a written Parent Involvement Policy.

BUS INFORMATION

Pinellas County Schools Transportation Department is implementing a new system to inform you when your child’s bus is going to be delayed or schedule changes. If your student rides the bus, this is important to read. DHMS is part of a pilot effort to use a system called Bus Bulletin.

The Bus Bulletin notification system will notify parents and students when there are bus delays and schedule changes. If you would like to receive instant notifications when delays or incidents affect your student’s bus, please register with Bus Bulletin.
