The DHMS Extended Learning Program (ELP) is available to all students. ELP Tutoring offers our students the opportunity to extend their learning and academic success through skill strengthening, homework help, and course recovery, offering a variety of options before and/or after school to continue to support your child’s academic success.

• Morning Sessions run from 8 a.m. to 9 a.m. Monday, Wednesday, Thursday
• Afternoon Sessions run from 4:20 – 5:20 p.m. Monday – Thursday
• All students must have transportation home.

21st Century Community Learning Center at Dunedin Highland Middle School

 

R' Club Mission: To provide quality early learning and development programs that strengthen children, families, and communities, with a focus on: Respect, Responsibility, Resourcefulness, Responsiveness

21st Century Community Learning Centers (CCLC) provide FREE academic enrichment opportunities during non-school hours for middle school age children, particularly students who attend high- poverty and low performing schools. The focus of the program is to help students meet or exceed local and state standards in subjects including reading and math through a broad array of enrichment activities that complement their regular academic programs. In addition, 21st CCLC programs offer literacy and other educational services to the families of participating children. 

This is a FREE program open to all students of Dunedin Middle School, limited spots available. Priority will be given to those children needing academic assistance.  An enrollment packet must be completed and approved by the R’Club staff for your child to attend.  Please call 727-734-3250 for additional information and to find out how to enroll.

The Personalized Learning Pathway is a new online platform that helps students navigate their path to academic and career success.

 

The PLP helps students:

• Build resumes and keep track of achievements, goals, hobbies, and volunteer and work experience.
• See their performance on assessments and access targeted lessons to improve.
• Track progress toward graduation and discover areas they may need to address.
• Keep track of advanced coursework, industry certifications and performance on college entrance exams to determine if they are ready for college and careers.

Clever @ Home supports learning outside of the classroom anytime, anywhere!

Students are encouraged to continue using the resources found within Clever before or after the school day from home.

The district utilizes FortifyFL, a school-related suspicious activity reporting tool that allows Florida students and the community the ability to instantly relay information anonymously concerning unsafe, potentially harmful, dangerous, violent or criminal activities, or the threat of these activities, to the appropriate law enforcement agencies and school officials. FortifyFL was created and funded by the 2018 Florida Legislature as part of the Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School Public Safety Act.

Pinellas County Schools has partnered with Sandy Hook Promise to offer the Say Something Anonymous Reporting System. Say Something allows you to submit secure & anonymous safety concerns to help identify and intervene upon at-risk individuals BEFORE they hurt themselves or others. Tips made to the Say Something Anonymous Reporting System are passed along to the appropriate law enforcement agencies and school officials.

The Kiwanis Club of Dunedin in conjunction with our Builders Club, have established a Clothes Closet - a clothing closet for the Dunedin Highland Middle School Community.  When the staff identifies students in need, they can make referrals to our school Social Worker, and she will facilitate those students visiting our clothing closet to meet their personal and clothing needs.

If you have or know of a student with needs, you can contact the student's Guidance Counselor, or our Social Worker at the email address below.  If you have donations to make, you may also contact our Social Worker. DHMS & Feeding Tampa Bay

DHMS has partnered with Feeding Tampa Bay to feed Dunedin families! ALL are welcome to sign up and receive a FREE food box at the school from 2:30 to 4:00 p.m. on Thursdays. Prepared boxes will be ready for pickup in the front office.

Florida Statute 1006.064 allows school districts to provide menstrual hygiene products to students at no charge.  All public schools in Pinellas County offer sanitary napkins for student use.  Students needing a sanitary napkin can request one from the school nurse or school office clerk.

PACE Center for Girls Reach Counseling

PACE Reach provides social emotional, behavioral and mental health counseling to at risk adolescent girls and their families. PACE Reach provides the behavioral and mental health counseling and therapy components of the PACE model, with the full academic school day provided by others, in partnership with the State Attorney’s, law enforcement, juvenile judges, schools and community partners. Services provided by PACE Reach include: Individual assessments, Case Management, Individual trauma informed cognitive behavioral counseling and therapy, Group counseling and therapy, Spirited Girls! Life skills curriculum, Family case management, counseling and therapy, and Aftercare services following program completion. Girls in PACE Reach are enrolled in public school or another alternative education institution, and while PACE does not provide the academic school day for girls in Reach, PACE monitors attendance and grades to ensure school engagement. Girls are referred to PACE Reach by the schoolsand services are provided in schools or other community locations during the day, and afterschool and on the weekends at the PACE Center.

Founded in 1985, and started in Pinellas County in 1997, PACE began as a community response to the lack of female-specific programs for girls involved in the juvenile justice system, at risk of dropping out of school, or facing other serious risks. Since 1997 PACE Pinellas has served more than 1,500 girls by offering them and their families hope and opportunity for a brighter future.

PACE’s comprehensive and holistic approach to Educational Alternative Services includes academics, counseling, training, and advocacy services. PACE helps girls continue and complete their education, stay out of the criminal justice system and obtain the skills necessary to lead productive lives as leaders, mentors, role models, successful business professionals, and positive forces for change.
